Welcome to Kindergarten. My name is Cindy Piersdorf and I've been an elementary school teacher for 25 years. This is my first year teaching kindergarten. Previously I taught first grade for 15 years. I have had the privilege of teaching at Cowern for the past 5 years. This is an exciting year for our Kindergarten students. Kindergarten is a big step in your child's life. You will notice many exciting changes occurring both socially and academically. We've planned many challenging and fun activities that will help our students meet their academic goals.
Believe it or not first grade is just around the corner. Please help us prepare your child for that big day. Please practice: - Blending sounds to make words
- High frequency words
- Counting by 1's, 5's, and 10's to 110
- Counting by 2's to 22
- Counting backwards
- Simple addition and subtraction
- Identifying coins and their value
- Writing their first and last name
- Tying shoes (please skip the velcro) and Zipping Jackets
