Tonna Everth

My name is Mrs. Tonna Everth, and I am new to Cowern Elementary. I grew up in St. Croix Falls, WI, went off to college in the late '70's, and never dreamed I would be able to come back "home." My husband retired from the Army in August, got a job with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and moved to Minnesota. I was very fortunate to find a teaching position at a school as wonderful as Cowern. It is my hope that I can spend the remainder of my career at Cowern!

I began my teaching career in a very small town in northern South Dakota. I taught Resource kids whose ages ranged from 4 to 15! Next, I moved to Colorado and taught in a town very close to Steamboat Springs. I taught Resource kids for 3 years and Second Graders for 5 years. I then moved to Texas and taught First Graders for two years. My next position was on Florida's "Space Coast," nicknamed because Kennedy Space Center is within the county. I taught Resource Students, Second Graders and First Graders. My next move was back to Texas where I taught First Graders and First Grade Gifted Inclusion students for 10 years. My last position in Texas did not involve a move (THANKFULLY!) but it was a very big change for me professionally. I taught at-risk Kindergarteners and First Graders using a program designed by the University of Texas at Austin, Resource Inclusion students and was Special Services Chair (all at the same time)! As you can tell, the Army moves families A LOT!
